I've been a fan of Dorothy Dandridge for years and when I saw that Halle Berry brought her life to the big screen, her performance was very credible. If someone other than Halle would have done that part, the movie wouldn't have been as great as it was. It takes a hell of a lot of talent to pull off someone else's life and that couldn't have been very many actress in Hollywood. So, any old' actress wouldn't have done the job that Halle did. There were some aspects of Dorothy's life that weren't covered, but those weren't as important as the one's capture in the movie. When I saw Halle Berry playing Dorothy Dandridge, it was like I was seeing the real thing, because Halle Berry was very convincible. Plus, I see Halle and Dorothy Dandridge having a lot in common within their lives, and what Halle gave off wasn't anything rinky-dink, but the real thing. And it gives others who knew nothing about Dorothy Dandridge an insight on her life. Of course there were going to be things left out, of course there were going to things exaggerated, it wasn't going to be perfect, if you want to know how Dorothy was in temperament, read books on her, because those are where the real information comes from. Movies don't always tell everything, but Halle's performance wasn't based on looks, but how she gave off the image of Dorothy Dandridge on screen. So, Halle Berry did work hard to that story to life, and her I found it amazing that she went to such lengths and did it.

I am African American and I lived some of the writings in this movie. Maybe not the wealthy aspect but certainly the racism and the entire Black, White, Lighter Tone African Amercian aspect of the movie. This movie gives true insight of how African American view themselves even as race of our own: Are we good enough to get married just for love even though we are the opposite race? Are we even to marry out of race? Are we to marry for money or social standard? The wedding covers all these topics and so much more. Please watch the movie again and try to watch and understand that these events has or do happen in Real Life.

There were many parts in this movie that made me laugh so hard I cried. I would love to see Halle Berry in more comedies. Obviously, I think she is underrated as a comedy actress. Not many can make me laugh this hard and most all of the lead actors and actresses did a good job with their parts. Halle's co-star, who played Mickey, held her own as well. This was a bloody excellent movie. I would see this again and again and again. Very good cast selection and Halle Berry looks so different in 1996. This has got a couple of jumps and stuff in it and I was so thrilled by the suspense that i accidentally pierced my arm rest on my chair with my fingernails. Now over here in Australia, apparently this movie doesn't exist, but I saw a copy in a DVD store and luckily it was rated MA so i got it straight away and i was so excited about it, i had to hit myself. Very good cast, direction, acting, sets and if you live in Australia and you see a copy of this movie, get it straight away because it is extremely rare since it is only on video now and they have stopped all production of videos. If somebody says this is a chick flick, they have no idea what this movie is.

I saw Girl 6 on HBO after it was released (I wasn't allowed to see it). At that time Girl 6 didn't really catch my attention. I never knew what phone sxe was so I couldn't really understand the movie too well.I recently rented Girl 6 and was glued to the screen. I really loved the performance of Theresa Randle as the African American woman desperately in need of a job she later discovers phone sxe and yadda yadda yadda. The most elaborate scenes in Girl 6 has to be her fantasies where she becomes Dorothy Dandridge in Carmen Jones, Foxy Brown, and Thelma from Good Times. A lot of people I know hates this movie but I think it was a promising Spike joint, I really enjoyed it. Not as much as Bamboozled, Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X and Clockers but I enjoyed it. From every angle Girl 6 was enjoyable, Prince (then known as The Artist Formely known as Prince) provided a great score and playwright Suzan Lori Parks made Girl 6 the slick comedy it is today.

It wasn't memorable, but it was cute and not a total waste of time. Also, it was written by Barry Morrow, a member of the Association of Retarded Citizens, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Austism Society of America - a lifelong advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities. That puts him solidly in my camp as I am also a member of NASW and work with the developmentally disabled. Morrow won an Oscar for writing Rain Man.

Executive Decision... Different After 9/11, Like my review of "Air Force One", the counterpart of Executive Decision movie which came out the following year, this movie takes on a whole new element in the post 9/11 world. When released, a terrorist taking control of an airplane and using it against American Citizens as a bomb seemed the stuff Hollywood would make up and produce. After those shocking events, however, Executive Decision movie takes on a quality of realism that it didn't before, and unlike the aforementioned "Air Force One", is superior in many ways.

First off, the cast: Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, and the star-to-be Halle Berry star. Russell proves himself as a versatile Character Actor. Afterall, his previous role was that of a Special Operations Soldier in the Sci-Fi hit "Stargate", and in this movie he plays an intelligence analyst whom Special Operations Soldiers despise, and pulls it off well. Seagal completely convinces you he is the Soldiers Soldier that he is supposed to be. And Halle Berry, well, she deserves that Oscar she later won, and her abilities are showcased here. She was not the star then that she is today, and this is perhaps one of her many breakout appearances.

Second, all branches of the Armed Forces (save the Marine Corps) have a chance to shine in this movie. It shows a true devotion among the men who serve the United States. The Special Ops guys are Army, the delivery pilot is Air Force and the Tomcat Pilots are Naval Aviators along the lines of Maverick from "Top Gun".

In conclusion, Executive Decision is a good movie that is under-rated, and in the wake of 9/11, seems that much more real.

In my opinion, sentimental of Losing Isaiah movies could be as phony or endearing as cynical films; no matter what you read, both approaches could be equally effective or equally annoying. It all depends on how the filmmaker approaches the material. I think this movie deals with an interesting premise, and while I think nowadays the problem would have been solved in a very different manner, I think the Losing Isaiah movie has the heart in the right place. Halle Berry and Jessica Lange are great, and even though the movie fails to explore certain aspects of the narrative, I think Losing Isaiah this this is a solid drama.

Solomon and Sheba (1995), I only saw the preview for Solomon and Sheba movie in 1995 and I wanted to see it very much but I was not able to on the evening it aired. I have never forgottenSolomon and Sheba though. I have been looking for a copy of Solomon and Sheba movie for several years and always, always come up empty. I can't help but wonder if racism has something to do with it. Did Showtime receive complaints that they dare use people of color to represent people of color in this movie? Has public release of the movie been prohibited so as to erase all memory that Solomon and Sheba movie was ever made? I had several posters of African queens, Sheba, was one of them, in which the queens were depicted as the African women they were. They were hung on display in a public library and so enraged certain users of the library they were removed.....that is those that weren't stolen or destroyed.

The Flintstones and the Rubbles are modern stone-age families. Fred and Barney work at Slate and Company, mining rock. Fred gives Barney some money so he and Betty can adopt a baby. Great fun!, Making a live-action, feature film out of a cartoon show is definitely not an easy task, but the creators of this film pulled it off. THE FLINTSTONES is one of the most entertaining family films to come along in a good while. The great cast has a ball, particularly Elizabeth Taylor as Fred Flintstone's mother-in-law. Highly recommended!

College football must have some dirty little secrets and this movie shows what a few might be. If they had put a little more emphasis on characters this would have been great. Although being a great football fan the action was pretty good anyway.

One of those grandiose episodic films, in this case based on Alex Haley's mother Queen (Halle Berry) living through the traumatic experiences of the end of slavery. This is a great slice of American history, beautifully filmed and with an extraordinary cast and excellent ambientation. Such that you feel you are right there with them in the tobacco plantations, enjoying and suffering throughout Queen's life her happy and anguishing moments. The gorgeous (any other adjectives, anybody?) Halle Berry enacts the best rôle of her life. You will never see anything better by her.

There are two sides to every story the saying goes. For Alex Haley one side was roots the towering chronicle tracing Severn generations of his mother's family. Knots Landing is an American primetime television soap opera that was produced from December 27, 1979 to May 13, 1993 on CBS. Set in a fictitious coastal suburb of Los Angeles in California, the show centered around the lives of four married couples residing in a cul-de-sac, Seaview Circle. Initially intended to be a "scenes from a marriage" type drama series, storylines also included rape, murder, kidnapping, assassinations, drug smuggling, corporate intrigue and criminal investigations. By the time of its conclusion, Knots Landing had become one of the longest-running primetime dramas on U.S. television after Gunsmoke, and tied second place with Bonanza (although Bonanza had made far more episodes).

Kate blamed Claudia for Steve's death and cut her mother out of her life, but they reconciled after Claudia took an overdose of pills. After Nick left her, Anne was left homeless and bankrupt. She started an advice show on night-time radio which became a smash hit. Linda was murdered by the crazy Brian Johnston, who held the Mackenzies hostage for an entire episode. Jason left the Mackenzie household for Sweden while Julie left Knots Landing. Frank dated Debbie Porter (played by the then-unknown Halle Berry).

Gary invested in a project that turned tidal waves into usable electric energy. The man behind it, Joseph Barringer (Mark Soper) became Kate’s boyfriend. Paige joined Gary, along with her new boyfriend Pierce. A former flame of Pierce's, Victoria Broyelard (Marcia Cross), revealed that Pierce had killed his previous girlfriend. Paige didn’t believe it. Paige was shot by Pierce (aiming for Greg, whom he hated) and temporarily paralyzed, giving a delusional Pierce (who thought she was the previous, pregnant girlfriend he’d already killed) a chance to kidnap her. Mack and Greg rescued Paige and Pierce was arrested. Alex Barth (Boyd Kestner), the nephew of the Galvestons' housekeeper, blackmailed Claudia for refusing to help her ailing mother with her medication and thus allowed her to die. Claudia said that she wanted to end their mother's pain. Claudia disliked Joseph and asked Greg to get him a job away from Kate. Gary, who had tied up all his money in Tidal Energy, was left bankrupt. Valene attempted to console him, and the two of them spent the rest of the season enjoying a happy marriage. Valene was to write a biography on Greg Sumner. Mary Robeson (Maree Cheatham) told Valene that she was Meg’s grandmother, as she was Laura’s biological mother. Valene refused to believe it, and when she investigated Mary Robeson further, she was kidnapped in Florida.

Living Dolls is a short-lived situation comedy featured on the fall 1989 schedule of ABC. It was a spin-off created by a writer from Who's the Boss? and featuring characters introduced during an episode of that show. Both Who's the Boss? and Living Dolls were produced by Columbia Pictures Television and ABC.

Living Doll is about... The show featured Charlie Briscoe (Leah Remini), a friend of Samantha Micelli (the Who's the Boss? character played by Alyssa Milano). Samantha is dabbling in a modeling career and Charlie, a friend from Samantha's old Brooklyn neighborhood comes to visit. While doing some test shots for a dog food commercial, it is discovered that Charlie is very photogenic. Charlie was then befriended by Trish Carlin (Michael Learned from The Waltons), the owner of a modeling agency for teenaged girls.

Living Dolls was almost universally derided by critics; it was the only series to earn an "F" by People magazine in their 1989 fall preview issue.

Halle was the first African-American Miss World entrant in 1986, where she finished sixth and Trinidad and Tobago's Giselle Laronde was crowned Miss World.

Then in 1989, during the taping of the short-lived television series Living Dolls, Halle lapsed into a coma and was diagnosed with diabetes mellitus type 1.

Halle Berry Welcome to Hollywood is a mockumentary about a young man trying to make it in Hollywood as an actor. Tony Markes is the young man trying to pursue the means to become an actor. Various attempts to get him noticed and in roles in film and television fail. When he finally does get a break and gets a guest-spot on Baywatch, it ends with disaster as the actor steps on a stingray and has to be hospitalized. The film has appearances from numerous actors, actresses, producers, models, athletes, and other Hollywood figures.

"Welcome to Hollywood" pretends to be a documentary which chronicles the career of an unknown wannabee actor (Markes) who, hopefully, will become a big star during the course of the film. Kinda/sorta cute and fun, this flick doesn't pan out as it become increasingly obvious it's a fraud and scenes are set up or staged. Nonetheless, "Welcome..." does give some slight view-from-the-bottom insights into the inner workings of Hollywood and the movie biz. A marginally entertaining pseudodocumenatary for people with an interest in Hollywood behind the scenes.
